So I made it back home to Canada for the first time in 3 years!! Bizarre! The weather has been fabulous up here next to Pigieon Lake at my Parents place. A real paradise. You forget how nice familiar places are till you have been away for a long time. I am feeling good after the long travel day and have been breezing through the training sessions effortlessly. The race list has change a little bit recently for IM Wisconsin with the addition of Jason Shortis, Marcus Fachbach and Chris McDonald but I am feeling very confident and can’t wait till race day. I will have one more travel day between now and then then a few more days rest and then go time.
I never mentioned how stoked I was to see my buddy Whitfield gut it out so hard and come up big in Beijing. I thought it was a spectacular race to watch and such an effort. I am interested to see what he will do from here. I would be interested to see what he could do at the longer stuff. Such a talent as him would be sure to give Macca a go in Kona in a few years. We will just have to wait and see.

So, we decided to keep things orange due to the Dutch heritage. I think it looks much bettah!! Anyway.. just thought I would write a quickie. I am 46 hrs from flying to Canada to see the parents and for the first time in 3 yrs my little bro who’s axx I am gonna kick all week!! A week later I will drive over to Madison and get familiarized a bit with the course and then rip my season finale race there… IM Wisconsin!! Am going really good so hoping for a killer result!!!
A big thanks to my host family here, the Mayers, who put up with me all summer long!! We have made some big plans for next year so will be back again for sure!!
